Seasons on Leroy
Modern Lake Store

Typeography

Typography is the foundation to a successful brand image. It should allow those who look to feel an emotional connection and understanding before even engaging with the business. Considerations included something that could stand the test of time, look great on a storefront and online. Here are my initial top 4 selections and the final selection.

Concept 1

The Window

A window can take on many styles, shapes and forms. It allows us to let in the beauty of nature, warming a home, and allowing us to savor the changing of the seasons.

It can also give us shelter from the power of mother nature. Keeping us safe, from the comfort of our own home.

Simple and often overlooked, a single window can be an escape. As we look out to the beyond and daydream of what could be, it brings us hope. Hope that leads to dreams. Dreams that lead reality. Realities that become lasting memories.

Seasons on Leroy can be this window for so many. Passing through this window of dreams and making these dreams into memories.

May your walls know joy; May every room hold laughter and every window open to great possibility.

Maryanne Radmacher-Hershey

The window is your portal to the infinite garden. A portal that transports you into a different land, daydream, and opening the possibilities of what could be.

Using thin line work to accentuate the window forms, land and water, I attempted to create a brand mark that captures the simplicity and magic of the window.

So let the light in, watch as the seasons change, and make your dreams a reality.

Concept 2

The Rose

A rose. Common symbol for love and romance, it also represents enchantment, gratitude, grace, renewal of life, energy, and new beginnings.

A reminder of the changing seasons and life's little pleasures as young buds emerge in the fresh spring rain. They bloom throughout the spring, summer, and fall, and as they fade and winter arrives, we are reminded of their beauty past and give us hope of life renewed.

If you look the right way, you can see the whole world is a garden.

The Secret Garden

The rose, organic in form and shape, deserved an illustrated style. The detail of the leaves and petals. It is visceral, something everyone has held and can imagine how it feels in your hand.

Delicate to hold yet still a sturdy flower, it is the reminder of constant renewal of life.

Feel how the rose embodies the seasons and remains our constant reminder that the precious things in life do not fade but rather renew with each changing season.

A few of these options can be used together as well! See on the next page.

Wherever life plants you, bloom with grace.

Concept 3 (Selected)

The Dandelion

The dandelion flower tells us that life is short, delicate and you never know where the winds may take you. They are a reminder to dream, wish and remember the bigger joys that come from the little things in life.

The official flower of the military child, the plant puts down roots almost anywhere, and its almost impossible to destroy. They bloom everywhere the winds carry them. They are hardy and upright; their roots are strong, running deep and cultivated in a variety of cultures. They are ready to fly in the breezes that take them to new adventures, new lands and new friends.

Seasons on Leroy is like the dandelion. Always blooming, spreading wishes and desires as far as the summer wind blows. Seasons helps you visualize your dreams and realize what is really important in life.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you imagined.

Henry David Thoreau

The dandelion is a complex form that shows motion and evokes a special moment in time for everyone.

This shape also deserved an illustrated style to better show its organic nature and active movement. Some of these can also be used interchangeably as shown on the next page.

Seasons spreads their wishes and dreams though thoughtfully curated gifts and goods, helping others grow deep roots and memories that will last a lifetime. The Dandelion does not stop growing because it is told it’s a weed.

The dandelion does not care what others see. It says “one day, they’ll be making wishes upon me.: - B Atkinson

Brand Mark Evolution

I refined the brand marks to have more definition.

Color Theory

The crisp water of an inland lake mixes perfectly with the warm, Michigan summer breeze. Feel the soft sands between your toes and the clean linen sheets of an up-north cabin. These are things we can feel in our soul. These are what keep us coming back to the same spot year after year. These are feelings that make up our Michigan traditions. Let Seasons on Leroy spread their little treasures like the soft breeze of summer, continually bringing a refreshing yet familiar feeling into your home.

Bold and high contrast, Linen and Stone provide the perfect marriage. Clean and bold, this color pairing will be the simple statement on the block, with a clear purpose.

Pull in some warm, neutral tones using the secondary colors Moss, Clay, and Sand.

This pallet provides the perfect balance of a clean and inviting style throughout your branding, drawing parallels from the marketing materials, to the storefront, to the home.
